Have you seen the distinctive pigs around town? The Haslemere Hogs is a project using the talent of local artists and schools to decorate 60 fibreglass pigs, with the sales of the pigs going to the Mayor of Haslemere’s chosen charities.
Of course, our artists at Grayshott Pottery leapt at the chance to decorate and add their creative flair to their own hog. You could say they were as happy as a pig in mud…
The Grayshott Pottery pig, named Petal, was designed and hand painted by five resident artists. Her beautiful bold patterns are inspired by the history and heritage of our Dartington Pottery designs, with references to the distinctive and popular Dartington ranges of Sunflower, Éclore, Oriental Poppy, Hawaiian and Blue Roses. Even Managing Director Glenn Myers was involved in her creation.
“It’s not every day we get the chance to design a pig! Dartington is such a historic brand with recognised ranges that it made sense to give our pig a distinctive flair.
We’re delighted to support the Haslemere Hogs project and the chosen charities.” said Glenn. “Petal the Pig will be on display soon at the Pottery, so keep an eye out for her!”
Petal is number 21 of the 60 hogs decorated for this project. To see the other creations, visit the Haslemere Hogs website here.
